NSW Labor MP Tania Mihailuk has been sacked from the shadow ministry after utilizing parliamentary privilege to launch a stinging assault on a possible candidate.

Opposition Chief Chris Minns confirmed he had eliminated Ms Mihailuk from his shadow cupboard, saying her assault was unacceptable.

Ms Mihailuk this week used parliamentary privilege to hyperlink Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour to disgraced former Labor minister Eddie Obeid.

Mr Asfour is ready to be a candidate on Labor’s senate ticket on the state election in March.

In a speech to the legislative meeting on Tuesday, Ms Mihailuk urged Mr Asfour was a “tainted” candidate and described how Mr Obeid attended Mr Asfour’s marriage ceremony and gave him a beneficiant reward.

“I increase my authentic and longstanding considerations concerning Asfour’s character and his unprincipled actions in furthering the pursuits of builders and identities, particularly Eddie Obeid,” Ms Mihailuk mentioned beneath parliamentary privilege.

Mr Asfour has rejected Ms Mihailuk’s claims, saying they’re “outrageous and unsubstantiated”.

“She has used parliamentary privilege to launch a cowardly assault on me and my household and I name on her to supply proof of any wrongdoing to the related our bodies,” he mentioned.

Mr Minns this morning mentioned it was unacceptable for Ms Mihailuk to make use of parliamentary privilege to make political assaults in opposition to members of her personal get together.

Whereas Mr Asfour has been picked to run in March, he should first be endorsed on the state Labor Get together convention subsequent month.
